Exchange Utility Commended at Princess Royal Training Awards

The Princess Royal Training Awards and the City & Guilds Group have today released the names of the 48 businesses commended by their 2018 award reward scheme. The prestigious Awards honour UK companies including River Island, John Lewis, RBS, the Royal Air Force and Exchange Utility for their outstanding training and development programmes, which have directly resulted in commercial success.

The Princess Royal Training Awards honours employers in the UK who have created outstanding training and skills development programmes which have resulted in exceptional commercial benefits.  They recognise the achievement of a standard of excellence rather than selecting overall winners.

As a business, we are delighted to receive this award and to be associated with such a well-recognised and widely respected organisation. The awards are supported by HRH The Princess Royal, who is a keen advocate of skills development and training so this is certainly a huge accolade for our team and our business.

The Princess Royal Training Awards, delivered by the City & Guilds Group, are now in their third year. Each of the 90 applications was assessed against three Hallmarks of Excellence by the Princess Royal Training Awards Commission, which comprised HRH The Princess Royal and seven leading figures in the business and training community.

Praised for the quality of our training

Exchange Utility was described as ‘truly an exemplar of training and learning best practice’ by the judging panel and was also praised for our ‘commitment to training and development by upskilling and empowering coaches and managers.’

Commenting on this year’s recipients, Chris Jones, Chief Executive of the City & Guilds Group said: Congratulations to all 48 organisations who have achieved the Princess Royal Training Awards standard of excellence this year.  Once again, it is evidence of the very real benefits that investing in staff development can bring to employers, large and small, private, public and not-for-profit. At a time of increasing economic uncertainty and reduced investment into workforce development it is great to see critical business issues being addressed through impactful L & D. Through the Awards we highlight excellent examples of training that have already proved to be effective and we encourage others to build on their success.

Shahid Shami, Head of Learning and Development and Sales Operations at Exchange Utility, said: ‘It’s with great pride that I can congratulate the Exchange L&D Team for winning the prestigious Princess Royal National Training Award 2018. The judges loved how Exchange Utility embraced L&D through its onboarding process, bite-sized learning videos, breakfast briefs, lunch and learns, regular evaluations of the staff and development programmes and commented on their uniqueness and the avoidance of generic interventions. It gives me great pleasure to congratulate our internal training team on this achievement. A huge thank you must also go out to all the staff that played a part in conveying their passion for the support this team gives to them in their role – we couldn’t have done it without you all.’

The awards will be formally presented at St James Palace in the City of Westminster on Wednesday 31st October this year and the team are very much looking forward to making the trip down to London and representing our business at the event.

We would once again like to thank and congratulate our learning and development team, as well as the entire business for their commitment and contributions to this process. Without you, winning this award would not be possible and it is an absolute credit to you all and to Exchange Utility as a whole.
